Best I’ve Owned

I bought a pair of X Ultra 3s in early 2019, my first Salomon purchase, and have loved them. These have been my only shoes for that span of time, and was happy how well they held up to all activities and daily use. Was even more happy to find the design/fit completely unchanged when I went looking for a replacement pair today, three years later. Really appreciate the quality and sticking to a great design without feeling the need to unnecessarily iterate.

Tremendous all around hiker!

I bought these as all around hikers and backpacking boots for the Midwest. However, I recently used them on a 6 day backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada’s which included climbing Mt. Whitney. They hold up under all terrain and are completely waterproof. I’m a big guy, 270 lbs, and I was carrying a 47l lbs pack and the boots did great.

Long-lasting quality & comfort

I’ve had these X Ultra 3 Mid GTX for over 2 years and put them through miserable conditions. I have used them on numerous trails throughout N.C. and I have also used them for tactical operations for law enforcement. These shoes have stood up to everything I’ve thrown at them. The goretex lining keeps my feet dry, but surprisingly, my feet aren’t baking on hot days. I purchased a pair of Merell mid GTX tactical boots similar to these and they are super stiff and cook my feet in the summer. These Salomon hiking shoes are somehow the perfect balance between rugged durability and long-lasting comfort. The contagrip grabs onto smooth concrete, snow, mud, dirt and any wet surface. The inner liner doesn’t retain odors either which is a plus when you’re using them a lot. They also dry very fast. The size was true to size for my size 9 ( I have a skinny foot but they carry a wide). I highly recommend them.
