Still needs some work

I wore out my second beloved pair of quick-lace Salomons so I ordered these ‘X Ultra 3' shoes online along with a pair of ‘X Ultra 4' and ‘XA Pro 3D V8's. They're all very similar, except only the Ultra 3's still have the more accessible tongue that doesn't have to be fished out from under a skirting (defeating the quick-lace convenience). That was pretty much the deciding factor for me, as they're much easier to jump into. All three rise up further than my older shoes and rub my outer ankles which will require bandages until they toughen up. The drawstrings are unnecessarily long on all three and flop about too much, even hitting the ground unless you tuck them away (once again defeating the quick-lace convenience). I solved that problem by tying a knot at the very bottom.

Very good shoe for my weird feet but dont last.

I'm on my 3rd pair they are excellent for my narrow, long foot. Really like the quick lace option have had no problem with all pairs. Really supportive and comfortable on the mountain. They are not without fault they will last 2.5 years (previous pairs on the dot, I'm an outdoor enthusiast so they have a hard life.) until the sole comes away from the front next to the big toe, pictured. Eventually the opposite side will fail too. The sole wears evenly but when the shoe fails they're not worth repairing. The shoe is updated when I come to buy them, but all have the same problem. In my veiw the good points outweigh the problems other brands dont perform half as much as these hence my 3rd purchase.

Good but flawed

Had 2 pairs in the last 18 months and have really mixed feelings. They are extremely comfortable for both daily wear and light hikes but both pairs failed at the same place. Tye material on the crease point in-between the midsole and front foot on the inside face wore out relatively quickly. Both pairs still had good soles and overall construction just a shame about this weak point. Will probably try another style as all my quest boots have taken more abuse than any other brand so hope this is just a minor design glitch.
