It works well. The sensor does in fact work. While living with someone with a dirty apartment, while cleaning it did sense when I was cleaning, and would change intensity when I was doing so, like when I had to hand clean the carpets and was therefore kicking up a lot of dust/cat hair, it would go into the high setting. Getting to the filter to change it is easy, too. I can also tell it picks up a lot, because where the in-take is, is a ring of dirt/dust, and cat hair.
