My previous DVD player broke. This DVD player works, but the on-screen menu is low-res and poorly laid out, and the picture quality on my current 37" TV is a little blurry. I cant' live with the blurriness, so I determined to get the Sony BDP-S1700K Blu-ray ($94.99 HDMI cable $7.67) (I later saw that some versions of this come with the HDMI cable) The picture quality is better (it up-scales your DVD's), and it also plays Blu-rays The on-screen menu is a lot better
