We have an early American home and were looking for something that would replace our worn out carpet runner. I was skeptical at first because I wanted to first be able to see and touch the runners before buying. However I wasn't disappointed. We have freshly painted trends and kick boards and thought that we would have to buy the carpet tape. But the runners stay in place and do not slip. I suspect had our stairs been coated with polyurethane, we would need the tape, not in thus case. So far they appear durable and match the decor and age of our home.
