I got this for my son, to use on a network other than Verizon. Contrary to the statement of one reviewer, the phone is indeed unlocked. Verizon doesn't sell locked LTE phones. Since his sim card is not here yet, I inserted the sim card from my phone to start getting it ready for him. It boots with the Verizon logo, then starts the setup wizard. After you have made your language choice, it promptly announces that it is not a Verizon sim card, and gives you the choice of turning the phone off, making an emergency call, or proceeding with the setup using Wifi. Chose the Wifi. Set up your wifi connection, and proceed with the setup; I skipped everything I had the option to skip, just by personal preference. Once you have a home screen, choose "Settings" and from there choose "additional networks" option. Change the network mode from CDMA to LTE/GSM and then tell it to search for networks. It should pop up with the network matching your sim card, as well as others. Chose the correct network. The phone appears to take care of the other details by itself, tells you that it is registering on the network. Set up the APN for data with the information from your particular carrier, and you're done. You can now make calls on your preferred provider.
