DeWalt BLADES FOR DW735

We have been running 12-1/2" wide 1" thick birch boards through this planer for the past week, taking some down to 3/4", some down to 1/2", and the results are beautiful. We've been running it on speed 1 primarily to save the blades, so progress is slow but steady. We taped a 4: diameter ABS pipe to the dust outlet to keep the huge quantities of shavings under control (don't have a dust extraction system - yet). We clamped the unit onto a workmate bench and it's steady as a rock. It's loud, so you can only handle a few hours at a time - look forward to lunch break every day! Up til now we have been using a vintage JET planer, but parts for it are no longer available in Canada (not to mention the rigmarole involved changing/sharpening blades), so it's a huge relief to have a reliable replacement machine. Set-up took 3 minutes, been using it ever since.

Love this planer. It works great. very easy to use. very consistent cuts with little snipe. BUT. The only thing that is a bit of a downer is the cutting blades. I only wish they could be tougher. They do dull a bit quickly when running hardwood through it. I also found that extending the life of the blades requires lighter cuts.
