Fun and Easy!

I thought about one of these for years but never took the plunge. After spending 2 hours cooking and peeling, often unsuccessfully, two dozen eggs, I got online and ordered the egg cooker. I chose this one because Cuisinart is known to be a good brand and it has a 3 year warranty! I tried it as soon as it arrived. 7 hard-boiled eggs. Made sure I punctured the big end which should be on top in the carton. Added distilled water using the guide on the included cup. I let it do its thing. It quits on its own with an audible sound. I carefully put the eggs in ice water to cool down. Then for the real test - the peel. Awesome! They peeled easily and perfectly. I had beautiful eggs, worthy of deviling. I love this egg cooker and tell everyone, get it! You won't regret it. Oh I should also say it is easy to clean. I out vinegar on a paper towel and wiped it out. Easy peasy!

Eggzactly what I was hoping for.

I've only had this Cuisinart Egg Cooker for a few weeks and so far so good. I mainly bought it to make hard boiled eggs so I haven't tried the other egg recipes like poached eggs. This cooker is very easy to use. Everything you need is in the box. The measuring cup tells you exactly how much water to use so don't use less or more than indicated. One thing I missed initially was that the plastic piece covering the metal piercing needle on the bottom of the measuring cup simply comes off by holding it and giving a slight twist and tug. The needle is very sharp. I found it's easier to use the needle to pierce the bigger end of the egg. I found it best to place the needle on the bigger end and then gently twist the needle back and forth until you puncture the egg. A small hole is all you need. If the hole is too large egg will spurt out during cooking so try to make a pinprick hole. When the eggs are in place just put the top on and turn the Cooker on. It will beep when the eggs are done. Turn the cooker off and unplug it. Remove the lid and place the eggs in a bowl full of water and ice cubes. Let the eggs cool. Remove perfect hard boiled easy to peel eggs. Note on cleaning-The instructions suggest it's best to use distilled water in the cooking process. I use tap water and inevitably there is a brown residue left in the cooker. That residue is easy to clean with a sponge and some dish detergent. I've also used Bio-Clean or Barkeepers Helper, gently rubbing for cleaning the residue. I'd recommend this egg cooker for its design, quality and ease of use. I think its a good value for someone like me who uses eggs regularly in my diet.

Replacement For Previous Cuisinart Egg Cooker

Purchased this to replace my previous Cuisinart Egg Cooker that went out of service after owning & using it for about 19 years. The sliding button to turn the unit off decided to just not work anymore. This new unit is much lighter in weight (not that the previous one was super heavy) and this one can cook more hard boiled eggs at once which is nice. The main difference for me is the size of the beaker measuring cup (it's larger now) and the measurements on it are not quite as specific or the same as the previous measuring cup that came with my old unit. The first time I used this new egg cooker I just thought I'd use the same old measuring cup to hard boil five eggs like I'd done so many times before with the old unit. Well that wasn't enough water in the cooker & some came out not cooked enough so I tossed all five eggs & decided to use the corresponding measuring cup that came with this new unit. So now I just fill the measuring cup up with water to the 10 eggs marker line (which I don't feel is quite specific or definitive enough as it's a general measurement for up to 10 eggs) if I am cooking five or seven eggs (I never have the need for more than those quantities). By doing this, the eggs come out just as they are supposed to & a small amount of water is left in the well at the bottom (no big deal). I like the fact that the water well in the bottom of this egg cooker is stainless; it cleans up so nicely compared to the well in my old unit that after good care all those years looked like it was very old in the bottom since it was rubbed off black in color & had no stainless. Overall I am happy I purchased this unit and that I stuck with the Cuisinart brand. I've used it about five times now and am happy with the results I get. I may or may not have a need to try poached or soft boiled eggs but for my need for hard boiled eggs, I know this cooker will get the job done.
