Red Gold Whole Peeled Tomatoes, 28 oz Can

I use canned tomatoes for almost everything I cook. They are always handy to have on hand and you can use an immersion blender to get the texture you want right in the can after opening. For this reason I just get whole peeled tomatoes and chop them with the blender if needing diced or puree. That way, I need only whole peeled tomatoes for everything I cook.

The Red Gold brand tomatoes are very good. I can't remember that I had ever purchased this brand before. My experience with using them to make chili was a hit!! In the large sized can the tomatoes are whole with a little heavier juice which is more mellow than other brands I've used. I used only the tomatoes this time and no added canned tomato sauce or any other. Of course, I crushed the tomatoes ( as they were whole) and even added a little water. The chili reminded me of a friend who liked to use only fresh tomatoes and her chili was very tasty. . I noticed quite a difference as the chili seemed more mellow but yet was very good and spicy to taste. I was quite surprised at only using tomatoes and how tasteful the chili was. I plan to make it again with the Red Gold brand and I did notice they are a little different from other brands I've used … maybe a little more like fresh. Thanks Red Gold!!!!
