Proctor Silex 2-Slice Toaster with Sure-Toast Technology, Shade Selector, & Crumb Tray, Silver

Our 30-plus year old 1990s household toaster (FINALLY) stopped working!!! We needed a simple, easy to use, replacement. Spent quite a while, researching online reviews and designs/brands, for something similar to what we had before (General Electric). This Proctor Silex one seemed inexpensive, and didn't have ANY reviews mentioning: dangerous fires, overheating, melting plastic issues, cords that either shorted-out, or were inconveniently located underneath the toaster (oddly, almost EVERY other brand/model I looked at, had one or more of these problems/flaws--I understand that it's difficult to find new products that are as well-made as the older ones, but COME ON!). We wanted a toaster that didn't have lots of fancy buttons/lights, computerized features/LED screens, or did a bunch of 'extra' stuff...just one that toasted our bread, and bagels. Our old GE one was a cheap, plastic-sided model; but, it never gave us trouble, so we hoped this new one would satisfy our needs, since it has the same basic functions (however, the Proctor Silex also includes a special 'one-slice' button, which I've never seen on other models). The one-slice feature doesn't heat ONE side of the toaster, which is what I'd expected--instead, it heats the entire middle and outer-sections on BOTH sides for awhile (like normal), then switches to just the 2 outer sections, on BOTH sides. (Don't know how that only toasts ONE slice?) Anyhow, so I've waited for a few months to review this product, to see how well it works. So far, it seems fine (which is GREAT--because when we received the toaster, both the outer shipping box and the inner box that it came in, were CRUSHED-IN on one corner, after likely being dropped from a HIGH place to a concrete floor, in the warehouse!!). We worried that this had damaged the delicate electronics inside the toaster, although the body of it was completely unharmed (WHEW!). There was plenty of packing-material, surrounding the item. Hopefully, there won't be any issues with it, in the future (I don't think it'll last another 30 YEARS, though!!!). This toaster is kinda CUTE, and small enough to fit between our fridge, and mini-microwave (on a tiny countertop). It measures 6 1/2 inches wide, by 7 1/2 inches high, by 9 1/4 inches long. It's all plastic (probably 'impact-resistant', hee-hee!), with attractive matte black sides, and a matte (faux) metallic silver finish, on the front and top (which matches our black and stainless steel appliances). Has a COOL 'retro' look to it, and is simple/plain in appearance, which we like. Does the job; you know, TOASTING things. Not much else to say--except now, we need to decide what to NAME our new little toaster-buddy--just kidding (MAYBE)!! PS--when you first receive it, you have to heat it up a few times (outside!), to get rid of the 'new' plastic/electronics smell, it emits (P-U!).
