Presto Dehydro Digital Electric Food Dehydrator

Ok, so I love this dehydrator. I am having so much fun with it. And the kids are snacking healthier! I added two photos. One of it in use, and one showing some of the huckleberry, apple fruit leather we made. It came out perfect. It only comes with two of the plastic fruit leather trays though. So I will definitely be buying 4 more so I can utilize all six trays for making fruit leather. The kids love it. Even just applesauce makes great fruit leather. We've also made banana and apple chips. All six trays of fruit dried evenly and at the same time. And it's so easy to use. Just use the manual's charts for drying temps and times. Very nice digital dehydrator. I can't wait to make jerky. The packages of jerky seasonings was a nice extra also. The trays are easy to clean up and fun to use! I highly recommend this product.

I was so excited to try this dehydrator that as soon as it arrived I cleaned it and put it right away to use. The unit comes with a base with a fan inside and a heating thermostat plus you get six drying trays which nest together for an easy storage and mesh covers to use when you are drying herbs or small pieces which could go through the trays (trays and mesh covers are dishwasher safe). Setting up is easy and fast, they provide you with fast shortcuts so if you follow those you will be ready to start dehydrating. I chose to dehydrate apple slices and kale so I washed them and prepped them then I added them on to two separate trays and switched on the unit. The company provides you with a useful manual where you can read all the drying time needed for the different fruits, veggies, meat (it comes with jerky spice mix!) or herbs you want to dehydrate, I found this really useful. The dehydrator makes some sort of buzz sound, it's the sound of the fan which pushes the hot air through the trays to dry your food, it's ok after you get used to it. Because apples and kale had different thickness the kale took less time to become crisp and dry so I removed it before the apples. I kept apples crisp but not too hard, I was surprised by how sweet they became after drying them, my kids loved them for snack! I would recommend this dehydrator for health conscious people or for anyone who wants to experiment with this way of preserving fresh food, give it a try!
