Needed this little unit while waiting on part for central air repair. Easy to set up and cooled my bedroom easily. Didn't need to drain any water while operating in the cool setting; was concerned since other reviewers noted having to drain but I think that is in error. I live in S Texas and it is very humid and still no water to drain as it likely evaporates itself out in the cool setting.

We purchased this portable A/C unit when our aging HVAC system bit the dust during hottest 2+ weeks in July. I took over 2 weeks to get the new HVAC system ordered and installed. During which this portable A/C unit kept our living room at a comfortable low 70 temp/low humidity, even though the living room is open on one end (no wall). This made it possible to survive comfortably, even sleeping in the living room, if needed.

Perfect to use if your air conditioning is broken. Perfect to use by itself. Perfect to use a a supplement to AC in a room when the temps are 100+ . It cools a 12 x12 room fast to 68 -70 degrees with the door shut within 20 min. If the door is left open 9 -10 inches, it cooled the room, not to the set temperature, but helped to cool the dinning room.living room and hallway. It is perfect for 1-2 rooms. My understanding (dont get upset if i am wrong) media is a chinese company that makes some whirlpool products and some whirlpool parts. There is the background for the quality and function of this product.
