The directions were clear for assembly, but honestly it could have been more efficient. I ended up loosening the feet (first step) because they got in the way of actually screwing in the side walls to the base. Kitties were cautious at first but now love to snuggle inside. They have t used the scratching post side yet, but that's just due to where I placed the box. I'll probably put a sheet of the stuff on the other side too, I have a roll to use up. Looks good in the apartment, not a tacky fuzzy smelly bed for them. Plus you can use the top for decoration or practicality. Like a basket of grooming supplies and toys.
