Softer is Better

I am a lover of writing instruments and I like to try different things. The 4 B soft lead really writes great and leave a dark print with little effort. I do not use it for everything, mostly crossword puzzles and Worddle puzzles that are in the newspapers. I can write my answers and not have to press nearly as hard as I do with harder leads. I love it that Pentel has this available along with their great writing tools.

I actually bought both the HB, 2B, and 4B 0.5mm pencil leads. All 3 grades are wonderfully smooth to write or draw with. I've never had to worry about grain. And they are noticeably different in tone and feel going from the HB to 2B to 4B, which I really enjoy. Would definitely recommend.
