First, I think it's important to mention that this is best assembled with two people. I got it together alone, but it took me 3 hours. The first 3/4 of assembly went smoothly, I laid everything out, took my time and it went fine. It's a project, but it wasn't bad.
But the final few pieces were very frustrating; you need to hold it tightly together while simultaneously screwing in hardware; you really need 4 hands for this part. One person to hold it firmly in place while the second person does the screws, because what resulted was the screws not lining up with holes. It was very difficult to pull (and hold it) enough for the hole to line up and keep it held that tightly while fumbling with the screws. I did manage it, but it involved using my own legs and the side of my house to brace it. If you have a second person, then I would say this is easy to assemble! It's just the last few parts that need extra hands.
All parts are clearly labeled. One word of caution. Leave ALL screws loose until the entire thing is together and only when it's standing up and sitting level should you go around and tighten everything. I mean very loose too, so that everything is wobbly. There's a lot of 'give' needed to make it all come together. Once assembled it's solid and nothing wiggles.
As for the chair itself, I love it! I looked at a ton of these 'egg chairs' and the one thing I didn't like about most of them is that they look like eggs! I liked the concept, but some are just too egg-shaped for my taste. This one has an arched top but is otherwise more normal in shape.
The big selling point that made me choose this particular chair though? ARMS! It has arm rests. None of the others do. Once I realized this, it sealed the deal for me. I read leaning on an arm, I rest my teacup hand on the arm, I absolutely must have arm rests. The fact that this has arm rests and open sides takes away from the extreme egg-shape I dislike too, so it's a dual benefit.
The seat itself is large. I'm a woman, 5'5, 145 lbs, so somewhat average, but I really wanted to be able to sit in a lotus position so I can meditate. There's plenty of room to sit that way, so I'm very pleased about that. It's both wide and deep; my 30 lb dog even squishes in with me and we're both comfy.
The cushion is nice, it's well made, and the material is a thick, durable outdoor friendly fabric. The stuffing is 'slippery', causing me to slide around more than I'd prefer, especially when I lean back, but I'm getting used to it. The ties are short, so I have to tie it on using knots rather than bows, which is annoying but not a deal breaker. I tied a pretty scarf to the top to filter the sun.
I have this outside on my deck, so time will tell as to how it holds up in the elements. I live in the Northeast US so I'm trying to decide if I should move the chair indoors in the winter months or not. It's pretty large and somewhat heavy, so bringing it in isn't ideal but we'll see. Overall, I love this chair!
