This was the first year we had a faux Christmas tree and because I have a parrot I was so sad I wouldn't have any pine tree smell. When I bought this I was hopeful I might get a slight scent, like those green little sticks you can hang. But truste when I say that this candle smells EXACTLY like a real Christmas tree!! I use a candle warmer, I don't know if that matters but I can not recommend this item enough, AND it's safe for my bird as I've had it on every night for over a month with zero issue
