A wonderful, inspirational story.

The true story of Homer Hickam, a high school student from West Virginia who was inspired by Sputnick to build rockets and become a NASA engineer. He had to overcome opposition from his father who wanted him to become a coal miner. Even the school principal was an adversary, thinking most students should and would become coal miners after high school. Highly recommended.

When I watch October Sky, It reminded me of my younger years. 4 other friends and I also built model rockets and flew them. It was all most looking at our own lives back then. Only ours was back in the 70's. This movie is a great family movie.
