does not backlight, the "Glow" has to be charged, and lasts 2 minuets. that's it. can not use it in the dark the contrast from a monitor or tv is too strong and causes ones pupils to constrict, so you see less light then the light-charged glow is even giving off. There are more shift key characters then a lot of pads, and its nice to have arrow key ascii mapped to its tiny right-thumb pad. Also the Space key produces an appropriate length space ascii. However, the lack of proper back-lighting kinda ruins the usability of this device. Further, it does not fit most under-button addons, without HEAVY levels of dremel-ing that will leave the internals exposed. (I have done this to mine to fit the strike-pad underbutton set.)
