I am using mine in an outdoor environment and I think the numbers will be able to take these elements well as they are built of plastic. The number has a two-piece construction with a front piece and a back mounting plate. I choose to remove the two screws from the back mounting to get precise bolt hole locations for mounting onto the mounting plate. Some of the installation procedures definitely require some hands-on knowledge to incorporate the numbers with the 12V power supply and mounting plate. The spacers supplied with the number added a nice touch as I used them to get a nice standoff look from the plate and the LED lights really put a nice bright look onto the mounting plate when they are on at night. I used several numbers for my application and wired all the white leads together into a common connector and did the same with the gray leads. I then ran a two single wires to the power supply. I tucked all the additional wire length into the back of the mounting plate before I installed it onto my house. It looks great when light up and the neighbors as well as myself were definitely impressed with the finished professional look they have once installed.

It's low voltage so it's easy to set up yourself including hooking up to the power source from the door bell or running a dedicated 12v DC line. The installation is pretty straightforward. Looks and feels like a premium product!
