International Concepts Mission Computer Desk

This desk is stately, unpretentious, and very solid. Assembly is uncomplicated and straight-forward. The desktop isn't big enough to accommodate both my printer and computer, but with just my computer it is roomy and comfortable. I'm very pleased.

This is not fine furniture , but appears to be sturdy and well made. First my desk did not come with instructions. Assembly is straight forward for those who have assembled a few pieces of furniture before but finishing instructions would have been nice. My desk came well packaged and did not appear to have any shipping damage. The desk appears to be made out of strips of solid rubberwood glued together, not unexpected at a desk this price. I finished my desk with an old can of Minwax penetrating oil stain. Worked except for a few things. First, I did not sand the desk prior to putting on the stain. Since I did not have the instructions I was not sure if I was supposed to sand. I noticed a couple of places where the stain did not take. Not sure if it was glue the manufacture used to glue the strips together or latex that had seeped out of the wood. There was one spot on the desktop that seemed to have a soft spot that may have been latex. One I removed the soft spot I now have an indentation in the top. I have not yet figured how to patch the small spot. I also noticed there were a couple of small plugs elsewhere on the piece. I plan on putting on 3 coats of oil based polyurethane before putting the computer desk into service. My desk had one small regular draw and one computer keyboard draw. Again, this is unfinished furniture and NEEDS to be finished. Consider the time and effort needed to properly finish it Given all this and a reasonable price I would purchase this item again.
