[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This review is for the Metabo HPT 18v Cordless Hammer Drill (DV18DC). MY BACKGROUND I'm a homesteader and I also own a business where I do various jobs in woodworking and carpentry for my customers. I have high expectations for my power tools, because I need them to perform as they should so I can make money and keep the homestead operating. WHAT'S IN THE BOX: Mine came with the hammer drill, belt hook and side-handle. It's showing elsewhere to have a depth gauge and the side-handle clearly accepts a depth gauge, but mine didn't come with one. I think that the one I received was early production, so maybe that's why. I'm not sure. WHAT I LIKE: (1) The power on this drill/driver is intense! I was surprised when I began using this tool, because I expected it to have good power, but nothing special. I was incorrect. It's up to 2,000 RPM, up to 1,240 in lb or torque and up to 30,000 BPM. I've owned and do own other pro brands and this thing is right up there with the best! (2) Ergonomics. I think that the ergonomics on this hammer drill are the best drill/driver ergonomics of any of Metabo HPT's line. Please stick to this design! I like the handle, the trigger, the weight, the balance. Everything is just right for an 18v hammer drill/driver. (3) The chuck. This is a high quality 1/2" chuck. I'm not for sure who makes it, but it's stamped with "ZU". A little Google research came back with nothing. Either way, it's well built and I've not had it loosen on me during use. (4) The side-handle is very robust and is just the right length. I also like that there is a ring for connection and so it connects all the way around the nose of the drill, as it should. (5) Overall build quality is great! (6) The selector switch for forward and backward. Metabo HPT has all kinds of selector switches for forward and backward. Many of them all loose and cheap feeling. This one is perfect. If every F/R selector switch were like this one, I'd be very happy. (7) As always, the Multivolt platform. WHAT I DON'T LIKE: (1) The LED light is in an odd position. It shines more outward that toward the chuck, which is where you'd want it. It's also not that bright. (2) Mine didn't come with a depth gauge. Maybe it was just mine, but it really should've come with a depth gauge. (3). I can't think of anything else. CONCLUSION: This is an amazing tool with great power and features! The price point on this tool is great as well! If you're a pro, prosumer or hardcore DIYer, then I promise that you're going to want this hammer drill as the partner for your Metabo HPT Triple Hammer Bolt! I highly recommend this hammer drill to anyone who is on the Metabo HPT line and even if you're not.
