After at least 5 years of everyday use building sheds with my old reliable NR83, it had a broken driver and I needed a replacement right away. Until I get the replacement parts which I realize was a new driver, bumper and a gasket I bought a NR83A5(S) 3-1/4" Plastic Collated Framing Nailer (Without Depth Adjustment) Metabo HPT 21degree but It came with a rafter hook (new to me). I wish I had gotten the one with depth adjustment but the store I bought it from did not have one, big plus if you're in the market for one. Also, in the box a pair of goggles, small oiler which I think is important given the fact some brands do not include that. I have tried other brands like Porter Cable, Dewalt and Makita framing nailers, also the Cordless Milwalkee 21degree framing nailer but I couldn't deal with the weight, balance or ergonomics of other brands. Because I already own 6 other Hitachi/Metabo nailers and staplers I guess I'm inclined to purchase these tools because of the way they shoot, feel in my hand and weigh. What I wish Metabo did different, is the tip of the framer nailer being more aggressive so the tip doesn't slip when nailing and the important labels such as the information of the nailer relocated elsewhere in the gun so it doesn't rub or wear off. Overall I recommend this framing nailer to anyone and I would definitely buy another one.
