Well, my Australian Shepherd has had a couple beds in her time. She's 13 she's getting ready to turn 14. She prefers the floor, but since I bought this bed for her, it's the only one she likes to lay in and she lays in it all the time now which I'm glad because I didn't like her on the floor. It's real soft texture. It's actually pretty for a dog bed. It's soft and it looks like it will last a long time. If you're looking for a mattress for a senior dog or a dog gets disabled or injured this is the one to order. You might wanna order two if you have a dog gets injured or has a chance of developing arthritis later on because it's not exactly thick, but it's still a nice dog bed for the price a
