I found out this doesn't help with a completely dead battery and that my current battery charger wasn't working. I re-read the instructions and it says this with the color/flashes of the light. Once I got a little charge in my battery, the maintainer finished charging the battery. It doesn't charge it immediately, but low and slow over a couple of days. It's a good item to keep your battery charged if you don't drive a vehicle very often. It's a good price too. I also like that it came with the clamps and ring connectors. It will work on both of my vehicles.

If you have had 12V batteries fail because they have been discharged from not being used, a float charger is what you need to keep the batteries working for years to come. I know the equipment and cars that are not in use in my garages, that were put away last fall will start on the first try, because I use a Motopower float charger on each one. A flashing red light will tell you when the Motopower charger is charging, when the light turns green the battery will be fully charged, ready to put into use.
