Life Products! T-Astragal Aluminum 80 in Weather Stripping 80x5/8x1-3/4 in Inswing Doors Black

Had to replace a failing wooden astragal on our double front doors, and could not seem to find a replacement that fit our specs anywhere until I found this one! I really appreciated how versatile it is- the handing can be switched if needed, it can be cut to size, it has sturdy bolts and it is metal- SO much more solid than the splitting wooden one that we replaced. My husband and I are advanced DIYers and installed this ourselves- we switched the handing (easy), cut it down to size (used a carbide tipped blade on a miter saw to cut, and a diamond blade on an angle grinder to notch), and then installed it with a drill and driver (straightforward, expect to fiddle with the bolts a bit when aligning to your frame and threshold). The trim pieces (you cut to size, we used heavy scissors) snap in nicely. We left off the little plastic locking mechanisms that are supposed to butt up against the slide triggers, as they caused us more trouble on than off, and have no real effect on the structure or function of the astragal anyway. My only minor complaint is that I believe the written directions that come with the item could have been more clear, but we were handy enough to figure it out. All in all, the item is solid, and that's all the matters, honestly. It's so nice to have tight, locked-in front doors again!

I only gave it a 4 because of some issue - but the service from the seller were quick and polite! I received the Astragal quickly from Walmart however 3 silver screws for the Astragal itself were missing you need 6 and for some reason the strike plates were black/brown and should have been silver (also on the pictures in the website they are silver, it wouldn't makes sense for the plate to show in black if you have a silver astragal. I contacted the seller and he replied and solved the issue quickly by sending me what was missing and the plates in silver. Sometimes things can go wrong - and I gave a 4 for the missing screws and wrong color of plates but delivery and service deserves a 5!
