High quality product for cooking or cosmetic use

Clean and white. Very high quality. Taste is great. Expiration date is 1 year and 9 months away. It tastes fresh and clean. I intend to use for cooking. For those using it for cosmetics, soaps or lotions, the consistency is even and the product is clean, with no discoloration. It arrived solid, but soft in Florida. The container is a pour container as many have pointed out and depending on where you live, it is going to be in some state of soft to solid, opaque cream consistency that is not pourable. I removed the metal seal under the lid and then put the entire container in the microwave. 1 minute on one side and about 45 seconds on the other side, which is the point where the cream had softened to the point that it reached the cap. At that point it is still opaque, but pourable in a state that is similar to very thick gravy. I poured some into a smaller container for use when cooking and it settled easily and evened out before becoming more solid again. I intend to keep the rest of the container in the refrigerator. Alternative method: I also tried heating a pot of water to 150 degrees and putting the plastic container in it. It took a couple minutes before it started to liquify around the edges, which allowed for pouring out a small amount. I then left it in the water bath for about 20 minutes and returned to find the entire mixture warm enough to pour with the consistency of a thinner gravy. As for taste and smell. I see many reviews on multiple websites saying the smell was bad or scent of plastic. I want to point out that if you do not know what lard smells like it can come off as an inedible or offensive scent. Either a bit like plastic or petroleum jelly to the inexperienced nose. (I know from my first experience years ago) This is natural. But it should still be a very mild scent. Based on the expiration date, you can be sure that it is not rancid. A good test is to put a little on your lips as a moisturizer similar to lip balm and after 15-60 seconds you should have a slight taste/scent of pork or ham gravy. It will NOT be salty. I hope this helps. It seems many people inexperienced with lard have thrown out the entire container thinking it is bad because they expected it to smell like bacon cooking or some other preconcieved scent expectation.
