Kichler Lighting - Fairfield - 1 light Outdoor Post Lantern - with Traditional

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely LOVE updating our home with Kichler products! Our newest update was the light fixture/post in our front yard. The Fairfield 19.25" Light Post Light Black has added such a unique and updated look to our front yard light post. The seeded glass with yellow light bulbs makes the light post look great! Several neighbors have commented on it and plan to add the same to their front yard lamp posts! I love how easily this light fixture transformed our front yard from bland to beautiful and sophisticated! Installation was super easy and took less than 10 minutes to install. The directions were easy to read and follow.

My wife loves the clean elegant lines and beauty of this light, while I wanted something practical. This light fits both goals. Although I had planned to mount it on a post by the driveway entrance, my wife decided she really wanted a free-standing plug-in pole light that we could attach to a large heavy square of unusual veined marble we own and that could be moved around the yard if she decided she wanted it in a different location. I intended to purchase locally but quickly discovered that not a single store in our area had any poles or bases in stock or planned to order any. Finally, our local Kichler dealer found an in-ground pole in their warehouse, not what we wanted, but we are creative. My friend, a licensed electrician, assisted with the installation. We determined placement and then drilled a hole partway up the pole so the hole would be about 3 inches above ground after the pole was set in place, and threaded wiring up to the top, leaving about 4 feet extending from the lower hole to add a heavy-duty outdoor plug. Digging a hole, we added the pole, made sure it was level vertically and horizontally, and securely packed in concrete rubble and dirt to make it impervious to wind movement yet easily dug up if we decide on a different location. Connecting the wiring on the light to the wiring inside the pole was a breeze, and the light fixture fit snugly onto the pole. At the lower end, we attached the outdoor plug and wrapped electrical tape around the part where the wire enters the plug to make it weatherproof. An outdoor extension cord from the outside receptacle on the porch to the plug on the pole completed the project. Changing the lightbulb is a breeze with just two screws holding the cover on, so you can try different bulbs to determine just the right amount and type of lighting you want. The light covers a large area of our backyard facing the woods, which provides security for us and for our small dogs as our porch light doesn't shine into the blackness beyond their fenced area. Now our backyard after dark has all-around softly diffused lighting, just right for feeling safe while spending a peaceful evening enjoying nature and stargazing.
