Water-based is easier to clean up %26 safer for toys. Great balance of lubrication, so it lasts longer without reapplication. Also, small amounts of water reactivate lubrication for extended pleasure or play. Other inferior brands require additional applications. Adding water eliminates, instead of extending the lubricating effects.
