The fabric is soft, the waist is elasticized and also has a tie, which I use to keep the shorts on my waist. I am 5'4" and 104 lbs.

Perfect for my therapy

I bought these so I had comfortable loose shorts for therapy after knee surgery. Great choice. Soft and there are pockets. They do shrink after washing. You need to allow for that. I bouight 3X and they were huge, then the 2 X fit well before washing then just fit afterwards making them harder to get on. Otherwise no major issues.
