Nice, in between size clamp for one handed use.

I use the smaller version of these regularly. Although I don't reach for this size as often, they are a great one-handed clamp for a variety of jobs. More controllable than a spring clamp and lighter than a c-clamp, they fill a specific niche. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Work great when used as intended

This review is for the 1 1/2" mini clamp (59100CD). I've been using them for years with no trouble, doing all kinds of small clamping tasks when gluing items together. Could they be better? Sure, I'd like to see the pads be more 'grippy', as the yellow plastic can sometimes slip, but I just bought 4 more so obviously I'm happy with them. I can only assume that other reviewers are trying to substitute these hand clamps for C-clamps or bar clamps that, by virtue of their design, have a much higher clamping force. These are PLASTIC, and your hand pressure is all there is so you can't expect high clamping forces. The design is for ease of use ("handi-clamps") not high pressure because they lack a force-multiplying screw or lever mechanism like other clamps have. When used as intended they are perfect.

Like an extra pair of hands

I've used the two sizes for many years. For crafts and DIY they are perfect. They will hold things in place while glue dries. I also use them outdoors to attach shade cloth to supports both temporarily and long term. They have a strong grip. I don't think this particular model is meant for heavy duty carpentry and such. There are other models for that. We all don't need heavy duty —just a dependable helping hand—for which these are up to the job. Only problem with newer ones is the yellow pads come off easily. This could certainly be improved.
