It is what it says it is.
I bought this to fit in a window as access to an outdoor enclosure for my cats. I built a simple frame for this purpose and it worked well. What is not in the description is that it has 4 settings on the lock: open, closed, in only and out only. This makes it even more attractive, I think, and so buyers should be aware of it. The lock is plastic and will likely break eventually, but at this price, it would not be a big deal to replace it. I will probably buy another one shortly, in case they decide to change the dimensions, as the hard part is building the frame and another one of the same size could be substituted easily. I think the 12 pound maximum might be off - any cat whose girth is 18-19 inches or less could squeeze through, but any larger, you would need a larger door. I have a 13 pounder who can fit through easily - the 17-pounder, not so much.

This product meets expectations in every way.
I have used these doors for around 8 years. They are easy to install with a simple jigsaw for us do-it-your selfers. You just cut a square hole and the Pet Flap frame fits right in and seals itself with four screws which attach the outside frame to the inside frame. If your cat is outside you can position the built in lock so the cat can get in but can't get back out instead of running around trying to coral the cat in the evening. I purchased two of these Ideal Pet Flaps 8 years ago and replaced one last spring when I replaced my kithchen door and I just replaced the second one in my garage entry door last week after the plexiglass deteriorated from the Florida sun and 8 years of use. Eight years of service for an inexpensive and easy to install pet door. A pretty good deal!

Works well. But just an FYI...I installed it in my automatic garage door, which required me cutting out a hole. My garage door wasn't as thick as this pet flap, but it still worked fine. I will also be painting the kitty door the same color as my garage door so it won't 'stick out'.
