These are not completely flat. They have a 1/4 inch heal. I thought these would have a large toe box but it's just regular. I bought the black shoes. The fabric (i mistakenly assumed it would be canvas) is a fuzzy type but it's not velour. the heel which you can't see in the picture is a rubber light tan. A black heel would look nicer i think. There is no stretch to the shoes and they don't hold tight to the heel which means the shoes have to fit perfectly or your child's feet will slide around in them. I think they would only fit my child for about 3 months before she would outgrow them. I regret this purchase because you don't get shipping costs refunded (i lost $7.50).
