I had no expectations of any drawing game being a game that my family and I would gravitate toward as a new favorite. However, I Suck at Drawing isn't simply about drawing or drawing skills. It is a masterpiece at leveling the playing field for artists and non-artists alike and drawing players into something truly unique. It's equally enjoyable win or lose. The Gameplay: Unexpected and SatisfyingAt its core, I Suck at Drawing is a game of foreshadowing other players' thoughts and risking your own level of ability in doing so. You have a limited number of turns based on the player count to choose one of two difficulty-based options in having others guess things you can't see yourself to draw. Each turn you have a choice to make, one more difficult than the other, on what to draw and a limited time to do so. What sets this apart is that it's set up in a way so only others, not you, can see what you draw – and, getting in the head of others really helps. Eventually you realize how truly satisfying it is to be guessed but regardless have laugh-out-loud fun with each turn taken – all do!What Makes it Great•Accessibility and Ease: The rules are explained in under five minutes, and everyone quickly “gets it” without lengthy, burdensome directions to understand. Moreover, the actions are so universal that anyone can play it equally well.•Fun, rather than Cut-Throat Competition: My family and I have been guilty of being a bit too competitive and using the “take-that” approach when playing with one other. This game, however, is one that you can't really favor or disfavor others. Each turn you are in it for yourself, but you need someone's help to get points, so you quickly root for everyone each time. •Great Variety: Because the options deck is so large and each card unique, no game is like the last in your attempts. There are so many cards for variety that I don't foresee ever going through them all and remembering past efforts on the specific cards. The Minor Flaws: This is not a game to try and partner with another person, if that is your intent. Further, I could see true a “artist” being disappointed in themselves if they had hoped to rely solely on talent. The Verdict: I Suck at Drawing is an unexpected fun casual gamer. It was as relaxing to me as it was fun. Whether you are a hardcore strategist or just go with your gut, this one deserves a spot in your gaming collection.Ideal for: 2+ players who don't take themselves too seriously, enjoy an engaging experience, and laughing at oneself along with others.
