Unlike NI-Cad batteries which slow down as energy is depleted, these Lithium-Ion batteries run full strength until all energy is expended. Hyper Tough 20V Max 2.0Ah Lithium-Ion Does the job
The battery lasts for about half my yard as I do have a lot of trimming, so I opted to buy this second battery as a backup. Knowing that battery powered motors fail under a lot of stress I would imagine the unit that I bought will eventually break down as well. But the batteries will at last the trimmer. Seeing how the trimmer is so cheap which includes the battery, it's a better option to buy a new trimmer, whereas if the first one breaks down you have another other one and a second battery as well. I say this because a new battery is more than a third of the cost of the trimmer itself.
