Hyper Tough 20V Max 22-inch Cordless Hedge Trimmer, HT19-401-003-09

I recently moved to a home that has hedges. I was anxious to get a hedgetrimmer but was in the process of watching some videos and doing a bit of research to see what type would be easier for me to use. I do have physical limitations due to being in a wheelchair. However, I can do most things as long as they are not much higher than 30" from the ground, lol. I also was worried about the weight load of the product due to having "rotator cuff syndrome" in both of my shoulders, and they tire quickly when holding a medium to high weight load. I've had other products with Lithium Ion batteries and almost all of those, while cordless and easier for me to handle, they tend to be quite heavy for me with the battery installed. So, enter this Hyper Tough 20 volt Lithium Ion Cordless Hedge Trimmer. It seems like the answer to all my concerns!!! Just reading through the booklets and instructions for safe use, I already see that it's going to be fantastic! With the battery, even when inserted into the trimmer, it's really not much heavier than when it's removed. I know that sounds strange but it's the truth. It's got to be the lightest weight Lithium Ion cordless battery that I've ever dealt with! I am in my happy place :) Now, the hedge trimmer itself comes fully assembled, even has two different blade covers...one is the cardboard inside the main shipping box, which helps to keep it from getting damaged in shipment. And the second one you'll want to keep and reuse when you're done using the trimmer. It is lightweigh plastic but it's shaped to completely enclose the blades, top and bottom and full length. Slides on and off super easy. Now you'll want to get some lightweight lubricating oil for you blades as they will definitely need lubrication before and after each use. There is a ton of friction that will build up and ruin your blades and motor if too much heat is built up without proper lubrication of those blades. Just a small can should do fine, I'm sure you know which oil to use, if not please ask your neighborhood hardware store folks or someone you trust on which oil to use. Not the stuff for cars or baby oil or cooking oil, lol. It has to be for electrical motors, etc. just really lightweight stuff. Of course you could always call the company who makes this and ask them as well :) Now, the trimmer itself has two separate handles to grab onto while using it. And on those handles is enough room to move your hands to whatever angle works well for you and is more comfortable. The booklets included will give you diagrams of where is the best place to hold it for maximum control. The on/off button has a safety switch much like a circular saw has, double protection from accidentally starting. On that button is also a switch that allows you to keep the machine running on a continuous running scenario or just pulsing on and off as you need it. Pushing and holding the button down if you have a large area to trim can become very painful at times so it's nice that they thought of that option. Now, placement of the charger is going to require some thought, as they recommend that you do NOT leave it where the temps will exceed 104 degrees F/40 degrees C and not lower than 41 degrees F/5 degrees C. Now I live in Phoenix AZ and it's well known that we definitely exceed those temps outside and in the garages/carports here, so I'm thinking I'm going to have to put this on the shelf in the laundry room inside the house. It plugs into any outlet, two prongs USA plug type. Now with a Lithium Ion battery, you can leave it on the charge all the time in between use. That way it's always at the ready. It won't mess up the battery and it won't overcharge it either. You also do not have to wait until the battery is completely dead to recharge it, you can top it off without it doing any damage to the battery's' memory. Remember, this is a Lithium Ion battery! Now I have used a hedge trimmer many years ago and boy o boy was it loud and heavy as well. This is just the right size and weight, and it's really quiet. It runs well and cuts great. The blades can be sharpened also if you feel they're getting dull from a lot of use. Oh and make sure not to try and cut off any branches that are larger than 3/4" or 19 mm! It can jam up the blades and definitely will make those blades dull quickly! I would recommend this for anyone who wants something lighter weight and yet very efficient for normal yard use. I'm really impressed with this machine and very happy I was allowed to review and rate it :)
