Boots built to last

There are a lot of work boot son the market. A good portion of those boots look good but are cheaply made. I'm not sure that these Herman Survivors will fit into the category of stylish footwear, but they certainly are well made and built to last. Top grain leather uppers that are anchored to the sole with a Goodyear welt is one of the most obvious signs. The majority of modern shoes and boots have their uppers glued to the soles. That method looks nice and sleek, but a Goodyear Welt is significantly more robust. By sewing the uppers to welt that encircles the entire footbed and then sewing the welt to the sole, the boot can be made to be significantly more waterproof and durable. It also allows the sole to be replaced comparatively easily. For years, this was the way all shows were made. Not so much anymore. The method is too expensive and makes the shows last too long so you cannot sell a second pair. Beyond the welt, these boots have removeable insoles, an antimicrobial lining, and a steel toe. The only negative to the boots is the steel toe design. You will need a relatively narrow foot to feel comfortable in these boots. The steel toes in on the restrictive size. So, make sure you try these on with the socks you would normally wear. Do that and you will have a pair of great boots that will last you a long long time.

Heavy-duty boots

These are your typical heavy-duty work boots. They would work great in a lot of different professions. My husband is a mechanic and loves these boots. He has been wearing them almost every day for about two months. These boots are true to size. They fit my husband perfectly. The inside soles are thick and keep his feet comfortable as he wears these boots throughout the day. The backside of the boot has a padded fabric for extra comfort. My husband wished the tongue had the same padding on the back of it because it was a little uncomfortable at first. The shoelaces are of good quality. They are long enough for easy tying, but not so long that the laces hang down the sides. They are the perfect length. My husband also wears these boots while doing yard work. The outsoles are very thick and made from rubber so his feet are well protected. They are also steel toe, providing even more protection to his feet. The steel toe isn't restricting, he is still able to bend on his toes without them hurting. The tread is thin, but that is nice if my husband is working out in the mud, he doesn't have to worry about a lot of mud getting stuck in the treads. The leather and outsoles are easy to wipe clean, however, the oil that my husband steps in has definitely stained the boots. The white outsoles make the boots look dirty faster than if it was a darker color. Straight out of the box these boots had a very strong chemical smell, but after a week or so the smell disappeared.

Great Work Boots!

Great boots at a great price. I've had these for about a week now and they get softer each time I wear them. The body of the boot is regular boot leather. But, the tongue leather is incredibly soft and flexible. Like a fine pair of leather gloves. Much more comfortable to wear than some of the others I've used. They're fairly lightweight for work boots, easy to clean and super comfortable. I highly recommend them!
