Cheap protection!
This is a no-brainer! The built-in battery lasts for 10 years, then you dispose of the unit and get another one. Consumer Reports and Kidde both recommend that you replace your smoke detectors every 10 years anyway as the sensors degrade over time. The twist here is that you don't have to feed it a new 9V alkaline battery every year, saving you $30-40 over a ten year period. It mounts easily on drywall with 1 screw - drill a single 3/16" hole and install the tiny mounting plate with a Phillips screwdriver. Brilliant!

Easy to install
The fact that this lasts for 10 years sold me. I love not having to worry about changing the battery every 6 months. This covers a huge living area. It is very important to have one in your home and having one you don't have to worry about is great.

Great for family room/great room
I received this item for the purpose of review. This is a good smoke alarm. It proved itself tonight after a pan of quick rice was left unattended on the stove. Started to smoke. The alarm was placed above the back door by the basement steps about 15-18 feet from the stove. It went off. So I have proof that it works. Thank you for keeping us safe.
