Instructions
Beans are a natural agricultural product. Despite use of modern cleaning equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort and rinse beans before cooking. **Stovetop - From Ambient **Quick Soak: Rinse and sort beans in a large pot. For 1 lb. of beans (about 2 cups) add 6-8 cups hot water. Bring to a rapid boil and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Drain soak water and rinse beans. **Overnight Soak: Rinse and sort beans in a large pot. For 1 lb. of beans (about 2 cups) add 6-8 cups cold water. Let stand overnight or at least 6-8 hours. Drain soak water and rinse beans. **Cooking Directions: Add 6 cups of hot water to drained and rinsed beans. Simmer gently with lid tilted until desired tenderness is reached, about 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

Good price, convenient packaging. Haven't found any rocks yet. I always rinse twice, soak overnight, season and cook 6-7 hrs in the slow cooker on low. No complaints. Very consistent results. I prefer black beans for taste, but pintos have different polyphenols and I'm trying to increase dietary variety. I've bought this 8lb bag maybe 4 times and I'll continue to buy it.

How to know whether or not the pinto beans you buy are to old to buy. If the pinto bean is light in color they are good. If they are dark they take a lot longer to cook. Walmart has good dry beans.
