Cooking Instructions: **Quick Soak: **Rinse and sort beans in a large pot. For 1 lb. of beans (about 2 cups) add 6.8 cups hot water. Bring to a rapid boil and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Drain soak water and rinse beans. **Overnight Soak: **Rinse and sort beans in a large pot. For 1 lb. of beans (about 2 cups) add 6-8 cups cold water. Let stand overnight or at least 6-8 hours. Drain soak water and rinse beans. **Cooking Directions: **Add 6 cups of hot water to drained and rinsed beans. Simmer gently with lid tilted until desired tenderness is reached, about 1-1/2 to 2 hours. **Beans are natural agricultural product. Despite use of modern cleaning equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort and rinse beans before cooking.

Best Food Buy for Health and Value
Great Value red beans are high quality. They are fresh and clean. I never find any dirt or rocks, but it could happen with any bean. i sprout my beans and these are always viable and sprout wonderfully and cook up very smooth and tasty. Never have seen such consistent good quality in red beans. Of course, they are exceptionally nutritious and devoid of any unhealthful effects UNLESS you add a lot of fat to them. I cook them with onions, tomatoes and peppers and some spices with enough water to cover and a bay leaf too in my pressure cooker for 20 minutes max. Oh, don't forget the garlic. Always great! Highly recommended. Other great value beans have done well too and they really help my food budget.
