Sunex SX231P 1/2" Drive Premium Impact Wrench

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this Sunex SX231P on the assumption it would be a backup impact alongside my older Matco MT1758TH. The SX231P will now be my go to impact and my Matco will now be my backup. The SX231P has really good torque in both reverse and forward. I was able to remove some really stubborn bolts on an old Dodge D50 suspension with ease. I believe its rated at 500ftlbs but could actually be a bit more in my opinion than what its rated at. I'm very pleased with the SX231P and would definitely recommend this impact to anyone needing a great impact at a great price.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This impact delivers well within its rating. It exhausts away from the face and is relatively quiet (important feature). It is about a half-inch shorter than most - making it easier to get into tight spots. It feels about a half-pound lighter than my other half-inch. Not important on lug nuts, but very important when working overhead - use the lightest tools possible overhead and save your shoulders for later in life. You will thank your younger self. All aluminum frame - rugged and doesn't hold onto grease like other finishes. Regarding the rating - this is not the rotate at any cost impact wrench. That just breaks fasteners - and everyone is just one broken fastener away from a 30-minute project becoming a 3-day ordeal. Also, you don't want to overtorque while assembling. Undertorque with the impact and use a proper torque wrench set to the proper value - especially lug nuts. Broken wheel studs are a pain. Use the right tool at the right value and avoid extra work. With a half-inch drive, above the rating of this torque wrench, use a torch for heat and/or penetrating oil and avoid the extra damage. Worth the price.
