I began using this in middle of an outbreak. Day 6 to be exact. The very first time I used it I could tell a difference in the discomfort. It immediately began healing and the pain was gone. I certainly did not expect for it to be so quick to reduce the symptoms and pain! It will be interesting to see how it works on a newly erupted site next time.
