I was able to make this jig work for some of my plane and chisel blades, but only after a lot of fiddling around. The jig was not straight. If I placed a blade square in the jig, the edge did not lay flat on the sharpening stone. I had to shim one of the wheels with three layers of masking tape to make it level with the other wheel. My spokeshave iron is too short for the jig and one of my chisels is too thick to fit under the clamp.
The instructions with the jig for setting the sharpening angle didn't seem to make much sense, but I was able to set the angle by marking the bevel with a Sharpie and adjusting the jig until the sharpie mark was erased. This was not very easy, however, because of the stiction in the angle adjustment, making it difficult to tweak the angle in small increments. .
