Ubisoft Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag - PlayStation 3 Video Game

While this game does depart from the strictly assassin-based activities of the previous installments, it adds a lot of good things and happened to cover one of my favorite periods in history. I love the shanties, and the tavern music- it's not cheap, but it sounds like they recorded all of it live. It's good stuff. The way the naval combat works and the sailing is also very engaging and realistic. Kenway is a game character you can really latch onto and feel like you know him, which wasn't true for Connor in AC3. The upgrade system is nice for the ship, but for outfits and personal weapons they could have had even more selection, especially for the pistols. Still, all the weapons integrated nicely, nothing felt out of place or overpowered. The combat animations are superb and bring you right into the action. Overall, I could talk about the game for hours but in the end you just need to know that it's great, and worth having.
