I finally got to use this measuring tape to install hurricane shutters and this is one of the nices looking and usable measuring tapes I have seen and owned on the market today. This Stanley FaxMax met my expectations for usability and durability. The numbers are big which makes it easier to read from a distance. The auto locking mode is a plus since a majority of simple users forget to lock the tape when using it. The tape is much wider than other tapes which gives it a better feel, plus its big so its harder to misplace. The outer casing is Made of a durable plastic which will last a long time. The best feature is the detachable hook. The detachable hook comes in handy for those whom have the need to do a job by yourself and it comes with a storage spot right on it. The 30 ft. FATMAX® Auto-Lock Tape Measure is a true workhorse & BIG! The weight, width &rubberized black areas keep this in place when doing long or short measurements. This has a detachable hook which clips on and off easily - I left it attached since it closes perfectly when in place. The hook itself is a nice feature because it allows me to measure things by myself. The numbers and marking are bold, BIG and easy to read from a distance.
