Fixed Blade

Arrived in less than a week in great (new) condition. Razor sharp out of the box, though a serious issue with the edge grind (bevel). I fixed it myself with a diamond sharpener, but I am sure Schrade would have exchanged it if I asked. The edge was almost curved to one side so that I could only chop from one angle, any other angle and the blade would just bounce off the wood. Not a big deal, since the metal is fairly easy to sharpen. I haven't seen this problem in reviews so it could have been a fluke. The coating, I know, is terrible. It can be cleaned up after use, but who wants to do that every time you use the knife for 10 seconds? I sanded the coating on mine with 1200 grit sandpaper and in 30 minutes, viola! Shiny, smooth coat. Wipes clean in no time. I didn't want to go through the trouble of stripping the coating and spending that kind of time on it. I should have used 2000 grit just because it would have been better, I think. Now it's my favorite woods knife. I added the compass and real 550 para-cord to the sheath. It's very versatile.

The bottom screw in the handle isn't the right size and when tightened, it still leaves a small gap , causing the micarta handle plates to wobble. No way to further tighten it. Blade is thick which is the good part, I love heavy duty knives. micarta handle looks good but doesn't absorb shock when chopping. Worst part is that I emailed schrade and never heard from them for over a month now.
