Delta 15960T-SS-DST Talbott Single Hole Lavatory Faucet with Touch2O Technology, Brilliance Stainless

I worked as a specifier for many years and Delta was always "specification grade" and remains so with this innovative "Touch 20" bathroom faucet. No, unintended actuation's from motion.

I bought this to replace a ten year old Delta bathroom sink faucet. The old fixture, although well designed, still had some features of a movie prop. Instead of the water actually flowing through the cast metal spout, it actually traveled through a copper tube that ran inside the metal spout. The feed tubes to the fixture were also copper with brazed on threaded fittings. This new Touch2O fixture is inferior in these respects: now the tube inside the prop spout and the feed tubes are plastic PEX tubing. Although approved for drinking water use everywhere, PEX is much cheaper than copper, and seems not nearly as substantial. The single threaded rod that anchors the fixture to the sink is attached by being screwed into a split cast boss on the bottom of the fixture. Incomprehensible to me why this rod wasn't cast into the metal fixture. As a result, when I tightened the rod to secure the fixture, the rod pulled out of the casting. Very poor design. A simple fix would be to add a nut to the rod above the lower part of the fixture thereby transferring the downward pull on to the lower part where it would hold very securely. The Touch2O mechanism works well - very clever, but a bit of a kluge. Seems almost like a prototype with wires and tubes going everywhere; a bit disorganized. The wires could become fouled with the drain mechanism. The battery pack is square and offers little area on which to stick the Velcro. In fact, the Velcro doesn't stay attached to the pack and easily pulls off when grasping the pack. The pack should be four AA cells long with a larger flat area on which to stick the Velcro. All things considered, this model is overpriced, considering the nature of the materials. This review may not be relevant to those who have this professionally installed, but be advised you're not really getting the quality and designed present in earlier Delta fixtures.
