Nice shirt but runs small

Shirt took weeks to arrive from China, but arrived well packaged and in good condition. Material is so thin it folded into a thin plastic bag that fit in my mailbox. At first I was disappointed, then realized it is a perfect weight for hot summer days. The quality (cut, stitching, etc) seemed great and I loved the blue Hawaiian-style pattern. Sadly, it did not fit. I'm a large man and typically wear a 3X. Some 3x's are even too large and occasionally I can fit into a 2X. This 3X was so small that it wouldn't even close in front. The two sides (button side and hole side) stopped on either side of my belly, and even hanging on me, unbuttoned, it felt like if I flexed my arms the entire back of the shirt would rip in half. Felt more like a medium than a 3x. Either this shirt was sized wrong (label said 3X) or it was made in Munchkin Land! Very disappointing because I really liked the shirt otherwise. Not returned because I got it on sale and shipping back to China would have cost more than I paid for the shirt.
