Fan Motor Keyway

Fans are used across a wide variety of restaurant equipment to create airflow and dissipate heat. A fan consists of a rotating arrangement of vanes or blades which act upon the air. The rotating assembly of blades and hub is known as an impeller, rotor, or runner. Usually, it is contained within some form of housing or case. This may direct the airflow or increase safety by preventing objects from contacting the fan blades. A key is a small, shaped metal implement for operating a switch in the form of a lock. A key may similarly be a pin, bolt, or wedge inserted between other pieces, or fitting into a hole or space designed for it, so as to lock parts together. It may have incisions cut to fit the wards of a particular lock, which is inserted into a lock and turned to open or close it. Motors are used in all kinds of restaurant equipment to power beaters, blenders, slicers, basket lifts, filters, fans and much more. A motor converts one form of energy into mechanical energy. Electric motors convert electrical energy into mechanical motion, pneumatic motors use compressed air. A motor is a device driven by electricity, air, or hydraulic pressure, which does not change the chemical composition of its energy source. Electric motors may be classified by considerations such as power source type, internal construction, application and type of motion output. In addition to AC versus DC types, motors may be brushed or brushless, may be of various phase (see single-phase, two-phase, or three-phase), and may be either air-cooled or liquid-cooled.
