As technologically advanced as the Bedlocker retractable cover is you can still install it in a little over an hour. On most applications, no drilling is necessary, and your cover installs with simple wiring into your truck's electrical system.  The optional rocker switch kit (BL-1120) adds a manual switch in addition to the remote control and can be installed in the cab or securely behind a locked tailgate in the bed.  Just in case, there's mechanical latching and unlatching should you ever lose power or if your battery voltage drops below 10.5 volts. 

Obviously, the Bedlocker is convenient but a truck bed cover still needs to do the basic job of protecting cargo from theft and weather.  For security, the nearly flush mounting puts the cover's edge right against your tailgate so with the tailgate up and locked there's no opening the cover without using the remote control or manual switches. The cover itself is made of extruded aluminum slats that are powder coated black with a simulated leather grained finish for protection and good looks.
