It’s designed for use in hardwoods like oak, cherry and maple, but also works well in softwood. Its threaded inserts use a proprietary external "knife" thread to slice into the wood to provide superior holding power. Installation can be done with a bolt/jam nut or optional drive tool. Some uses include, but are not limited to, drawer pulls, knock-down furniture, display cases, beer tap handles and outdoor furniture. E-Z Knife brass inserts for wood are versatile and can be used in both softwoods and hardwoods. Their unique knife-like external threads are designed to cut into the wood effectively, providing a secure hold irrespective of the wood's density.
